In this episode of the Franchise My Business podcast, Kevin features Matthew Rivera, CEO of The Inspection Boys at Loyalty Brands. He shares his entrepreneurial spirit and how he saw an opportunity in home inspection, founded his company, and grew it until he could leave his lineman job.
Matthew shares how partnering with Loyalty Brands clarified what they did and did not do well as a business, which allowed them to focus on growing to 14 locations open and 30 in the pipeline. He also talks about what’s next for them and trusting the system of growth and progress.
HIGHLIGHT QUOTES
Mentor others to run a business and set them up for success – Matthew: “Each year that I was teaching, I would have a hundred or 200 people come through and I’d see why they were failing over and over. And most of the time they weren’t failing because they weren’t good home inspectors, they were failing because they didn’t know how to run a business. And that was like the key to everything. It wasn’t that they couldn’t go out and inspect the home. It was that they didn’t understand marketing.”
Learning from mistakes with sales and marketing – Matthew: “It was the old saying, we were working in the business, not on the business. So we were doing home inspections, teaching the school. So our thought process was let’s hire the sales team, let’s hire the marketing team, and if they could do all of that, the franchise will sell itself, and then we could do the teaching later. And you know, it didn’t work.”
