BE THE FILAMENT: LIVING My Infinite Purpose

Like all good stories, this one started in Vegas.

My wife and I were with friends, riding up the escalator through The Chandelier lounge in the Cosmopolitan.

Looking back at my buddy Dr. Alex, I said, "Be The Filament." And it stuck.

But the journey to that moment began earlier, during some intense personal work with my mindset coach, Jose Bolaños, in Nicaragua. After my mom passed away in 2020, I needed clarity. Jose helped me dig deep, past the surface-level stuff most people never get beyond.

We spent days breaking down what truly drives me, what makes me feel most alive.

I realized something profound through our work together:

I love making people come alive.

The world and the people I encounter can use my positivity.

It's in my DNA, and the world needs it.

"Be the filament" is more than just another way of saying "be the light." The filament transforms energy into something visible, warm, and necessary. It's the essential element that makes light possible.

Knowing I can do this in the worst scenarios makes this my infinite purpose. Even if everything gets stripped away (business, possessions, status) I can still be the light in the lives of people I touch. I could be anywhere, in any circumstance, and still fulfill this purpose. I could lose everything tomorrow and still be the filament. That's how I know this is what I'm on this rock for.

Once I figured this out, everything else became pretty easy. The decisions in front of me gained clarity.

Should I take this client?

Will this new service align with my purpose?

How do I structure my day?

When you know why you're here, these questions have clearer answers.

That's a big part of what I want to help people understand through my work with business owners. Once you have clarity about your purpose, business decisions don't have to be confusing. The path forward becomes more evident. This applies whether we're talking about your life purpose or your business's reason for existing.

When I help owners build companies that buyers fight to own, I'm being the filament. I'm showing them how to create something with lasting value, not just temporary income…just what I wish someone had done for my mom's skateboard shop years ago.

Mom built Square One Skateboards out of determination and a desire to serve kids in our community. For five years, she poured herself into that business. But when life changed and our family needed to move to KC, there was nothing to show except some leftover inventory for those years of work.

That experience shaped everything I do now at Diffactory. When I guide owners to build transferable systems instead of founder-dependent businesses and help them protect the wealth they've created, I'm being the filament.

My job isn't just to help businesses make more money today. It's to convert their hard work into lasting light, into harvestable value that can support families, fund retirements, create legacies, and continue brightening communities long after the founder steps away.

This idea has become more than just a philosophy; it has become my life.

So there you go.
