From Three-Time Founder to Founder Advocate

In 1985, my mom started Square One Skateboards in Topeka after spotting one problem:

Tony Hawk signature boards selling for a 50% markup over mail-order prices.

For five years, her business thrived selling those same boards at fair prices.

Then life happened.

Dad lost his job, and my parents faced a harsh truth: despite years of hard work, their business had zero value beyond inventory. They sold the remaining stock to a bike shop and walked away with nothing.

That lesson never left me.

As a three-time founder, I discovered the same painful truth about my own business in 2023: despite years of success, it was worthless without me.

This revelation became my mission:

Helping burnt-out founders fall back in love with what they've built while creating something with real value.

Having made almost every mistake myself, I now guide others to build companies they actually enjoy running today that will be worth something tomorrow.

I help family business owners build companies that are actually worth something when it's time to move on. Too many great businesses generate good income but have little real value because they're too dependent on the owner.

I've spent my career working with everything from Fortune 100 companies to local franchises, and here's what I've learned: there's a big difference between making money and building value. My franchise journey started at United Country Real Estate in 2007, accelerated when I co-founded United Real Estate in 2010 and it continues today. After seeing hundreds of franchise owners succeed through strong systems and support, I’m still passionate about the model’s unique ability to scale businesses.

After nearly thirty years in marketing, I’ve evolved from SEO in the early days of the Internet to leading Fortune 100 campaigns and building America’s largest full-service real estate marketing companies. Today, I focus on helping businesses increase their enterprise value through proven marketing and operational strategies.
